Next-gen Porsche 911 begins testing.

The new 911, expected in launch in 2018, will come with an updated version of the new turbocharged 3.0-litre engine; to also get a hybrid powertrain.

The latest facelifted Porsche 911 series made its debut at the Frankfurt motor show this year, and now latest spy pictures seen of a test omega replica watches online mule show that the German sportscar maker is already working on the next series of the 911, internally codenamed the 992 series.

The test mule of the new 911 spotted came with wheel arch extensions at the rear, indicating either a wider rear axle or a chassis update that could accommodate a bigger powertrain. The next-gen model will be built on a modified version of the current car's MMB platform and is expected to arrive in late 2018, as per Porsche’s seven-year product cycle. The new car will be the first in this range to receive a hybrid powertrain with the manufacturer likely to combine one or more electric motors to a flat-six engine giving the car an all-wheel drive configuration, with the petrol motors driving the rear axle and the electric motors powering the front wheels.

Earlier in September, Porsche engineers confirmed to our sister publication, Autocar UK that they were working on packaging a hybrid powertrain into the body of the 911 which could explain the need for wheelarch extensions on the test mule.

Porsche is also expected to be considering an all-electric 911 though it is not guaranteed to reach production. Base models of the 911 are expected to use the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine that made its debut in the facelifted 911 Carrera.

But before the next-generation 911 comes to market, the sportscar maker is expected to introduce the new 911 R in time for fakebreitling.co.uk next year's Geneva motor show.

Mahindra Scorpio automatic to get new six-speed gearbox

After the XUV500, Scorpio next in line for Aisin’s new-gen six-speed automatic transmission in late 2016.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has finally launched it long awaited automatic variant of the XUV500 equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission sourced from Japanese supplier Aisin Seiki. The gearbox (code: F6F45) is a new generation torque converter aimed to provide smooth gear shifts with reduced transmission losses. M&M claims the gear ratios (with 2 overdrive gears) in the 6 speed transmission are optimised to deliver best fuel efficiency.

M&M is now planning to equip the Scorpio with the new technology gearbox. At present, the Scorpio uses an old generation auto gearbox unit sourced from Drivetrain Systems International (DSI).

“A transmission similar to the one used in the XUV500 can be adapted in the Mahindra Scorpio in the future,” Hemant Sikka, Executive Vice President & Chief Purchasing Officer, Automotive & Farm Sectors, said. “With Aisin, we have gone for a long term relationship. Going ahead, our first preference will be Aisin for all our new projects, depending on their torque values,” he added.

The carmaker will jointly work with Aisin to adapt the gearbox for longitudinal engine applications in the rear-wheel-drive Scorpio, Mahindra engineers told Autocar India. The transmission being used in the front-wheel-drive XUV500 automatic has been developed for a transverse engine layout.

Earlier this year, Autocar India exclusively reported that Mahindra is working towards bringing the new Aisin six-speed automatic gearbox for the new Scorpio in 2016. However, the development could get a bit delayed as Mahindra still has some inventory of the DSI transmission left amid trickling sales of the Scorpio automatic at around 70-80 units a month. Mahindra sold a total of 4,719 units of the Scorpio in October and has averaged around 4,100 units for the Apr-Oct period.

Tata Zica launch early next year

Tata officially names "Kite" hatchback as Zica; will come with new petrol and diesel engines.
Tata Motors has officially announced "Zica" as the name of its new hatchback.  This model was earlier known as Tata Kite.

While the Zica is expected to be a hatchback, there is also going to be a compact sedan which will hit showrooms later. The new siblings, codenamed ‘Kite 4’ for the hatchback and ‘Kite 5’ for the compact sedan, will share their platform and certain components with the Indica though in essence the two will be completely new cars.

Both the Zica hatchback and compact sedan will use the original Indica’s X0 platform as a base, but apart from a few ‘hard points’ like the pedal box, engine firewall and wheelbase, there will be no carryover parts. The X0 platform itself will be greatly beefed up to improve torsional rigidity, refinement and dynamics.

A lot of effort has gone into the styling of the Zica family which will come with Tata Motors new design language and will look quite different from anything in Tata model range.

Underpinning the Zica's chassis will be an all-new suspension system. The fully-independent rear suspension of the first-generation Indica, which caused a lot of wheel geometry issues, has been replaced by a more conventional non-independent, twist beam axle seen in most hatchbacks today. The Zica hatchback and compact sedan will feature a wider track than its predecessor and get the latest-generation Electric Power Steering (EPS) unit that has won praise in the Tata Bolt and Tata Zest.

The Zica hatchback and sedan will be powered by two new engines. One will be the 1.05-litre diesel, which made its public debut at the 2012 Auto Expo under the hood of the Manza Hybrid Concept. The motor, is essentially a three-cylinder version of the original 1,405cc, four-cylinder diesel which has been re-engineered with counterbalancing shafts, a stiffer block and reduced friction. The output is expected to be around 67bhp and 14kgm of torque with fuel efficiency upwards of 25kpl in the official test cycle.

The second of the two motors is an all-new, in-house developed naturally-aspirated 1.2 petrol motor. The engine is a lightweight aluminium three-cylinder unit with four valves per cylinder, and is expected to produce around 84bhp and 11kgm of torque. It features tech like roller finger followers and hydraulic lash adjusters for noise reduction and lower maintenance.
The petrol motor is expected to share the ‘Revotron’ name with the more old-school 1.2 Revotron turbocharged engine which currently powers the larger Zest and Bolt. It is unclear how the current 1.2 Revotron, with its cast-iron block and two-valves per cylinder head, will sit alongside the naturally aspirated 1.2 litre three cylinder petrol in the model range but it likely that the current 1.2 turbo-petrol will get a bump up in power and torque to clearly distinguish it from the new 1.2 triple.

The Zica hatchback will be positioned at the lower end of the B-segment and will compete with the likes of the Maruti Celerio. Tata is looking to price the new Zica siblings aggressively with the hatchback’s prices expected to start from around Rs 3.6 lakh. Tata will be looking to avoid the mistakes it made with the Bolt hatchback in regards to its pricing.

The sedan on the other hand will have no direct competitors as it will be priced at the bottom end of the sub 4 metre segment.

Mercedes-AMG GT S launch today

The GT S is the top-of-the-line AMG GT variant and comes with 510PS of power and 650Nm of torque
The Mercedes-AMG GT S sportscar is the more powerful version of the AMG GT and takes over the baton from the highly successful SLS AMG. The GT S goes up against the Porsche 911 and the Jaguar F-Type.

The Mercedes-AMG GT S has been entirely developed by the AMG division and employs an all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 mill in a compact arrangement. This potent engine produces peak power of 510 PS at 6250 rpm and 650 Nm of torque between 1750 to 4750 rpm. All that power and cheap breitling replica torque lights up the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The AMG GT S can do the 0-100kmph sprint in just 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 310kmph. It’s not just outright acceleration that the GT S is good for though. Mercedes-AMG has done a splendid job to give the GT that handling prowess to rub shoulders with a 911. The AMG GT S gets an aluminium space frame with independent double-wishbone suspension all round and adjustable damping as standard. Dry sump lubrication, ceramic brakes, forged wheels, dynamically adjusting engine and transmission mounts further make the AMG GT S track worthy.

The styling of the AMG GT will be a big draw too. The tapered front and rear bumpers give more than a peak of the tyres when viewed straight up. What adds to this muscular stance is the SLS AMG inspired wide haunches. The lights of the AMG GT aren’t the best part of the design though. The best angle to view the AMG GT is definitely side-on. The tiny bubbled roof slopes in smoothly to the cheap rolex replica watches rear almost as neatly as the gorgeous Jaguar F-type and that’s saying something.
