Updated KTM RC 390 revealed

KTM has unveiled the updated RC 390. On first impressions, the bike looks no different than the current model, but it features a larger (320 mm) front brake disc, drops the underbelly exhaust for a side mounted aluminium exhaust to comply with Euro 4 emission norms, gets a slipper clutch, 12 mm thicker seat cushion, ride / throttle by wire and adjustable front brake and clutch levers.

The added updates continue show KTM's track focused approach when it comes to the RC. The engine is still the same 373.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled unit that makes 43 BHP and 35 Nm of torque.

KTM will launch the new RC 390 in India next year, with the production taking place at Bajaj's plant in Pune. Given the motorcycle's upgrades, expect a bump up in the price as well.

Ducati 2016 bikes unveiled.

Ducati has hit the EICMA show in force at Milan, an affordable new Scrambler 400 variant being a highlight for our market.
Bologna based bike-maker Ducati has revealed 9 new bikes, ready to hit roads around the world in 2016. The Ducati World Première, has taken place at Milan, where the motorcycling world is concentrating, as top manufacturers reveal their latest motorcycles and scooters. Traditionally associated with the colour red, Ducati’s now brought a new hue into the family,Yellow, as compliments its Scrambler brand. Ducati already has four Scramblers, available in India too, as the Classic, Icon, Full Throttle and the Urban Enduro. For 2016, Ducati has added two new Scramblers; the Scrambler Flat Track Pro, the sportiest Scrambler yet, that comes with lowered handlebars and a high performance, Termignoni exhaust system in place. Along with the Flat Track Pro, Ducati brought in what promises to be a star for the Indian market, a smaller capacity 400cc, V twin, two-valve per cylinder engine equipped Sixty2, so named after the year 1962, when the Italian company introduced their first Scrambler model.

The Italian big bike specialist also has for 2016, an all-terrain conquering Multistrada 1200 Enduro tourer, powered by a potent 1199cc, DVT, or Desmodromic Variable Timing system equipped engine, that outputs 13.9kgm of torque. The Multistrada 1200 Enduro is brimming with technology and electronic riding aids, with a highlight being Vehicle Hold Control, to help the motorcycle clamber uphill from a standstill, and four riding modes you can choose from to suit every riding condition; Touring, Enduro, Sport and Urban, each of which alter engine response, braking, suspension and traction control settings.

Also revealed in Milan is a sportier Ducati Multistrada 1200, a re-introduction of the Pikes Peak edition tourer that Ducati already used to offer, in homage to the famous annual hill- climb racing event where Ducati has seen considerable success. The Pikes Peak Multistrada will use a 1199cc, variable valve timing equipped DVT engine, comes with a lower visor, adjustable Ohlins suspension, loads of carbon fiber bits and Termignoni exhaust.

Then there’s the new Hypermotard range, three variants all using a new for 2016, V-twin, 937cc, 113bhp powerplant. There’s a standard Hypermotard 939, sportier 939 SP variant and a touring oriented Hyperstrada 939. The Hypermotard now develops a peak torque output of
9.98kgm.

Next up from Ducati is a middleweight superbike successor for the impressive Panigale 899; the Panigale 959, which gets a 955cc, V-twin cylinder motor mated to a six-speed transmission, with an impressive dry weight of just 176kg. The 959 comes with exhaust system in stacked, under-over configuration, with optional titanium exhaust system also available.

Finally, there’s the XDiavel, a new gen Diavel, Ducati’s take on a power cruiser, as lies somewhere between a cruiser and traditional high performance motorcycle. The XDiavel features belt-drive, and comes with a new, 1262cc, 156bhp, V-twin powerplant, that makes
maximum torque low in the powerband, at 5000rpm. The XDiavel is suspended on fully - adjustable Ohlins front and rear suspension and offers a massive 240 section rear tyre, allowing the bike lean angles of up to 40 degrees. The XDiavel also comes equipped with a DPL (Ducati Power Launch) launch control system and LED powered illumination all-round.

Ducati launches Scrambler Urban Enduro in India.

Urban Enduro, the fourth bike in the Scrambler series, was launched at the inauguration of Ducati’s Bangalore showroom.
Ducati, after introducing its Scrambler range of bikes in India with the Icon, Classic and Full Throttle models, launched the Urban Enduro, the fourth and final bike in the Scrambler series at 7.90 lakh, ex-Bangalore. The Bike’s launch also marked the inauguration of the Italian bike maker’s showroom in Bangalore.

Besides the wild-green paint scheme on the Urban Enduro Scrambler, the bike’s ribbed seats, front fork protectors, high front mud-guard, and the headlamp protector distinguishes it from the other Scrambler bikes. A more subtle change comes in the form of 18-inch front wheels and smaller 17-inch rear wheels, unlike the 18-inchers that other Scramblers get both up front and at the rear.
The underpinnings and powertrain of the bike, namely the USD front forks, the adjustable rear monoshock and the 73.8 bhp, 803cc, L-twin cylinder, air-cooled engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox respectively are carried over from the current Scrambler range. The Urban Enduro also comes with ABS equipped front and rear disc brakes and Pirelli dual sport tyres.

As earlier reported, Ducati is working on a smaller 400cc version of the Scrambler, based on its bigger sibling, which could be revealed at the EICMA 2015. Besides the Scrambler range, Ducati’s line-up for India includes the Diavel, Hypermotard, Monster, Multistrada and the Panigale superbike.
