MV Agusta F3 800 imported prior to India launch.

MV Agusta has imported the F3 800 suspersports motorcycle in India prior to its official launch in November. The MV Agusta F3 800 is expected to be priced around Rs 15 lakh

Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta recently announced that it plans to enter the Indian two-wheeler market in November. The exotic two-wheeler manufacturer has joined hands with Chakan based Kinetic Engineering to assemble its motorcycles to bring them to our tarmac via the CKD route to keep costs low. MV Agusta just hinted that it will launch three new motorcycles in November and we had guessed that among the trio of new motorcycles could be the MV Agusta F3 800. Our speculation proved correct as import documents have revealed that a unit of the MV Agusta F3 800 has been imported to India prior to its official launch. The styling of the MV Agusta is based on its litre-class offering the F4 and beautiful is the only word that could do justice to this Italian work of art. The riding posture of the motorcycle is aggressive like in the case of any supersports with clip-on handle bars and rear-set footpegs. Powering the motorcycle is a 798cc displacement, three-cylinder motor churning out 150PS of power and 88Nm of peak torque.

The powerplant is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and a quick shifter. The above numbers and its kerb weight of just 173kg means that the F3 800 can attain a top speed of around 270kmph which is great for middleweight supersports offering. The MV Agusta employs a tubular trellis frame crafted from steel and aluminium swingarm to keep weight under check. Talking about electronics, the bike features the MVICS (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) platform combining fully electronic control of throttle and throttle body with traction control. It also gets Ride By Wire, multiple ride modes.

Mahindra Mojo bookings open.

Mahindra’s flagship bike, the Mojo can now be booked, deliveries to start in October.
Mahindra Two-wheelers are just a step away from launching the Mojo, after what has been a several years long wait. The motorcycle can now be booked at dealerships, against a down payment of Rs 10,000.

Mahindra dealers we spoke to also clarified they expect Mojo deliveries to commence by the second week of October, indicating that the commercial launch is around the corner.

We’ve already seen a lot of spy pictures of near production ready Mahindra Mojo bikes being tested by the company pre-launch, along with developing variants of the bike as shown by Mahindra at events over the years. From the latest images seen, the front cowl has DRLs (daytime running lights), and also houses the indicators. The tank showcases redesigned knee recesses that blend in well with the overall design of the motorcycle. The motorcycle will also get a slightly stepped seat, with individually placed grab rails for the pillion.

The Mahindra Mojo is expected to use a single-cylinder, 292cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled and fuel-injected engine with a four-valve equipped head. It is said to make maximum power in the region of 25.8bhp, with peak torque of about 2.5kgm.

The Mahindra Mojo has been seen testing with a dual exhaust system. As previously seen, the Mojo will deploy top spec upside down front forks, coupled with a rear monoshock. For stopping power, the Mahindra Mojo is equipped with disc brakes front and rear.

Next-gen Audi A6 to get distinctive styling, more tech.

All-new fifth generation Audi A6 sedan unveil still some time away. Here’s a sneak peek.
Audi has begun developmental work on its next-gen A6 sedan. It is being jointly developed along with new versions of the A7 Sportback and A8 sedan. Internally known as C8, these three models will share the platform, driveline and chassis as well as electrical systems to keep costs in check. The facelifted Audi A6 Matrix was recently launched in the Indian market.

The next Audi A6 sedan’s exterior styling will lean heavily on the firms Prolouge concept car shown earlier. Audi says the essence of the current-gen A6, A7 and A8 can be found in the Prolouge concept’s design which can be traced into the production cars.  The new A6 will continue to get the signature Audi hexagonal grille which will be wider than before. The headlights are likley to be more angular with distinctive LED graphics. The bonnet will be more heavily contoured and the roof will be flatter along with pronounced haunches over the wheel arches.   The all-new A6’s rear styling will also mimic the concept and will come with distinctive OLED tail-lights, which will be previewed on the upcoming Audi e-tron Quattro concept that will be on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015.
On the insides, the dashboard will get an all-new design, on the same lines as the new Q7 SUV. It will come with the same touchscreen system and an enhanced touchpad interface featuring MMI functions that will be first seen on the next-gen Audi A8 sedan.  As many as three high-defination monitors will be placed on the dashboard to support various functions. The instrument panel will be an advanced version of the screen seen recently on the new TT, R8 and the Q7 SUV. The third display will sit lower in the centre section of the dashboard which will help regulate multimedia and entertainment functions along with HVAC controls.  The new A6 will also get a connectivity platform that will use WLAN in some international markets. This feature will allow live traffic updates for the navigation system as well as software updates.
Expected to have similar dimensions as the current-gen A6, the new car will have more interior space, thanks to its modular second-gen MLB platform. The wheelbase is expected to be longer along with even wider tracks and shorter overhangs. This will result in more boot capacity too. The new platform adopts a high percentage of hot-formed high-strength steel, aluminium and carbonfibre-reinforced plastic to cut weight.

Power for the volume-sellers will continue to come from an extended range of four-cylinder engines. These will be revised versions of today’s petrol and diesel fours and offer similar outputs to those used by the new A4. More luxurious petrol A6s sold internationally will use new 3.0-litre V6 and 4.0-litre V8 engines sourced from the Audi-Porsche ‘Kovomo’ engine joint venture, according to insiders.  Audi also plans a new range of V6 and V8 diesels with electric turbocharging - a technology Audi will launch on its upcoming SQ7.

New Nissan Z crossover teased ahead of Frankfurt unveil.

New small SUV likely to get 1.2, 1.5 and 1.6-litre engines; could get Nismo treatment as well.
Nissan has released a first teaser image of its upcoming crossover concept which is set to be unveiled at the upcoming Frankfurt motor show 2015. With the Z crossover, Nissan plans to meet the requirements of Z fans, while also tapping into the hugely popular crossover segment in the US.
Nissan has considered its 1.6-litre turbocharged line-up of engines for a high-performance variant, along with smaller 1.2 and 1.5-litre four-cylinder engines for the standard versions.

The new Z's proportions will place it between the Nissan Juke and the Nissan Qashqai, and will be built on the Common Module Family (CMF) platform, developed under the Nissan-Renault Alliance, which also underpins the upcoming Renault Kwid. The Z crossover is expected to sport a coupé-like silhouette. It could receive upgrades from Nismo, Nissan’s performance tuning division.

The new Z is expected to find a middle ground and to cater to SUV buyers who find the Nissan Juke a tad too small, and the Qashqai far too big.

The new CMF-B platform has the flexibility to accommodate hybrid powertrains, so it’s possible the concept at least will showcase a setup featuring an electric motor to drive one of the axles.
