INTERMOT 2018: Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory updated
Aprilia has unveiled its new 2019 Tuono V4 1100 Factory at the 2018 Intermot. As part of the update, the super-naked in the range-topping Factory trim now gets top-of-the-line Ohlins electronic semi-active suspension and more. The Italian motorcycle manufacturer also revealed a mildly updated RSV4 and Shiver 900 for 2019.
The list of electronics on the super-naked V4 has also gone up with the new Ohlins’ suspension. The bike gets a SmartEC 2.0 NIX fork, a SmartEC 2.0 monoshock and an Ohlins electronic steering damper which are controlled by an ECU. This suspension setup offers four settings in total – Road, Sport, Track and Manual.
Each of these settings can also be tuned by the rider to suit their needs. This can be done via the new Aprilia OBTi (Object Based Tuning interface) on the TFT screen. The Tuono V4 1100 RR, however, continues to use the slightly lower-spec, Sachs adjustable suspension (front and rear). Powering the Tuono V4 Factory is the same 1077cc, V4 engine producing 175hp and 121Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter. Electronics include traction control, launch control, wheelie control and ABS.
The motorcycle also gets two new paint jobs for 2019. Similarly, Aprilia has also updated the RSV4 and Shiver 900 with new colour schemes. The 2019 Shiver 900 also gets a revised exhaust system that is designed to vent gasses more effectively, and a new ECU which means traction control can now be adjusted for intrusiveness and even switched off
