BMW X3 xDrive30i launched at Rs. 56.90 lakh

BMW India has added a petrol variant to the third-generation of the X3. It is available in only one trim level. The BMW X3 xDrive30i Luxury Line is priced at Rs. 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

The petrol X3 comes with a chrome grille, underbody protection in frozen grey with chrome trim, chrome air-breather and 19-inch alloy wheels. The new X3 also gets fully adaptive LED headlights, LED fog lamps at the front and LED tail lights, roof spoiler, automatic tail gate and twin-chrome exhausts at the rear. 

On the inside, the new X3 gets a dual-tone dashboard with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The equipment list includes BMW iDrive, touch controller, navigation, a Harman Kardon sound system and Apple CarPlay. The new X3 also comes with a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, 3-zone automatic climate control, BMW Display Key, puddle lights, rear view camera with Park Assist and wireless charging.

The X3 xDrive30i is powered by a twin-turbo 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 248 BHP @ 5,200 rpm and 350 Nm @ 1,450-4,800 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels. There are 4 driving modes - ECOPRO, COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+. The SUV comes with hill descent control, hill start assist and differential locks.

Some of the standard safety equipment includes ABS with Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control, ISOFIX child safety seat anchors and run flat tyres.

The BMW X3 xDrive30i is available in 4 colour options - Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect and Mineral White.

Kawasaki To Organise Track Day At Kari Motor Speedway

Kawasaki owners will get a chance to hone their skills with help from RACR instructors

Planning a track day anytime soon? If you own a Kawasaki, the Japanese bike maker might just have the perfect event lined up for you. Kawasaki has announced that it will be conducting a ‘Kaze Race Track Day' (Kaze means wind in Japanese) on 14 July, 2018 at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore.

Organised in association with RACR (Rajni Academy of Competitive Racing), the track day is being conducted to help riders hone their skills on and off the racetrack. Kawasaki also plans on training riders on bigger and more challenging tracks such as the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Greater Noida and Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) in Chennai.

Before you book your slot, it is important to note that the event is exclusive to owners of Kawasaki motorcycles that have a displacement of 900cc or above, like the Ninja 1000, Ninja ZX-10R, Z900, etc. The participation fee has been pegged at Rs 7,900.

Kawasaki had organised a similar event at the BIC two years ago. Kawasaki states that it’ll continue to organise similar events in the future as well.

BMW India has finally launched the petrol version of the third-gen X3 in India at Rs 56.0 lakh (ex-showroom India). The BMW X3 xDrive30i features a 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo engine that puts out 252PS of power and 350Nm of peak torque. BMW is offering it only in the Luxury Line variant in the country. Gurugram: The much-awaited petrol variant of the all-new BMW X3 has been launched in India today. Locally-produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai, the all-new BMW X3 xDrive30i has further diversified the powerful engine portfolio of the BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and can now be ordered from BMW dealerships from today onwards.

Available in a Luxury Line design scheme, the all-new BMW X3 xDrive30i stands out with its dynamic driving qualities on any terrain and unrestricted everyday usability.

The all-new BMW X3 has been reinterpreted with a striking design language, featuring a compelling front with a boldly enhanced distinctive double kidney grille. Fully Adaptive LED headlights and LED fog lamps featuring the new hexagonal design ensure a prominent stance on any road. At the rear, LED expressive taillights combined with a low-slung roof spoiler and exhaust tail pipes on both sides in chrome make for a powerful conclusion.

4th-gen BMW X5 unveiled

BMW has unveiled the 4th-generation BMW X5. The SUV will be formally launched in November 2018 with deliveries expected to commence one month later.

The X5 has grown in size compared to the earlier model. It now measures 4,922 mm in length, 2,004 mm in width and has a height of 1,745 mm. They have increased by 36 mm, 66 mm and 19 mm respectively. The wheelbase has also been extended by 42 mm to 2,975 mm. The boot space, which is rated at 645 litres, can be extended to 1,860 litres with the seats folded. The new BMW X5 gets an 83-liter fuel tank.

At the front the X5 gets a large kidney grille, updated LED headlamps, revised bumpers with an air dam and two side vents. The car also gets an acoustic windshield as standard with optional acoustic side windows. The central portion of the air dam houses radars for the different assist systems. The side profile is similar to that of the outgoing car, except for the larger dimensions. It gets a choice of new design alloy wheels sized between 18-22 inches. The rear gets a spilt tailgate, new tail lamps and a sliver skid plate. Twin exhausts with square openings are present on the bumper.

The X5 will be available in a choice of xLine or M Sport trims. The xLine gets a different front bumper with smaller side vents, 19-inch alloy wheels, black side skirts and roof rails, grille and side window trims in a matte aluminium finish. It gets dual tone beige and black interiors, xLine door sill finish and a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel. On the other hand, the M Sport trim gets an M Sport steering wheel, a darker brown and black interior scheme along with contrast stitching, illuminated door sills and M floor mats, pedals and dead pedals. Changes on the outside for the M Sport trim include body coloured wheel arches and side skirts, option of 20 to 22-inch alloy wheels and an M Sport exhaust. The X5 will also be offered with an optional third row of seats, panoramic roof, ambient lighting with 6 colours, an optional 20-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system and a pair of 12.3-inch displays - one each for the driver information and infotainment system.

The new BMW X5 will be offered with a choice of four engines. A 4.4-liter, twin turbo V8 petrol engine developing 456 BHP / 650 Nm will be offered outside of Europe. A 3.0-liter, inline 6-cylinder petrol putting out 355 BHP / 450 Nm will be the standard petrol option. Diesel engines include the option of a 3.0-liter, inline 6-cylinder unit with maximum output of 261 BHP / 620 Nm and a 3.0-liter M Performance unit that puts out 394 BHP / 760 Nm. All the engines are Euro 6 compliant and send power to all the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. BMW will also offer an off-road package with two axle air suspension, front and rear underbody protection and specific information in the display. The cars will be offered with four drive modes - sand, rock, gravel and snow.

Radar based safety features include Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Steering and lane control assistant, Lane Change Warning and Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistant, side collision protection, evasion aid, Crossing traffic warning, Priority warning and Wrong-way warning. The X5 also come with an Emergency Stop Assistant that brings the car safely to a standstill if a medical emergency occurs. The Reversing Assistant is able to navigate the car up to 50m in reverse if the path has been recently traversed.

Rumour: McLaren planning to setup dealership in Delhi


In October 2017, it was reported that McLaren was planning to enter the Indian market and setup its first dealership. The British supercar brand has been in talks with Select Cars Delhi, which is the official dealer for brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, BMW, Mini and Aston Martin in the capital. However, there has been no official announcement regarding this.

Recently, India's first right-hand drive 720S was delivered in Pune. Besides this, a couple of left-hand drive 720S' have already been imported into the country on a temporary basis. While, the 720S is part of the Super Series, the Sports Series is brand's entry-level line up which includes the 540C, 570GT, 570S Coupe and 570S Spider. 

In India, McLaren sports cars are expected to be priced upwards of Rs. 2 crore. According to previous reports, McLaren is targeting to sell 10 units annually in India.
