Yamaha to open bookings for 2016 YZF-R1M.

Specifications of the 2016 YZF-R1M carried forward from 2015 model; all owners to get access to Yamaha Racing Experience.
The 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1M, the track-focussed, limited-edition version of the R1, sold out within hours of the bookings being opened. Hoping to pull in a similar response for the 2016 YZF-R1M, the manufacturer will open online bookings for the motorcycle from October 1, 2015. The 2016 edition will have the same specifications as this year’s version.

The YZF-R1M comes with a fully adjustable Ohlins Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS), Communications Control Unit (CCU), and carbon-fiber bodywork. New owners of the 2016 YZF-R1M will get access to Yamaha Racing Experience, where riders can acquire competitive riding skills under the guidance of motor racing legend, Colin Edwards, and also learn to fine-tune their motorcycles to suit riding styles and conditions.

It is common knowledge that Yamaha brings some of the most cutting-edge technology to the YZF-M1, the motorcycle that Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo won MotoGP races on. Some of this technology is brought to the production YZF-R1 motorcycle as well, specifically the ‘M’ version which is most closely related to the MotoGP motorcycle.

Volkswagen's 10-speed DSG gearbox on hold.

Company sources cite technical complexity and cost issues as reasons for project delay.
At the Vienna Engine Symposium September 2013, Volkswagen showcased a 10-speed DSG gearbox which was set to replace the six-speed DSG in an attempt to reduce CO2 emissions across the manufacturer's range. This new gearbox was expected to feature as part of the eighth-generation Passat line-up, which was unveiled last year, and also, serve some models from Skoda, Audi, Volkswagen and Seat.

Now, sources in company have confirmed to our sister publication Autocar UK, that the project had to be put on the backburner as it was getting increasingly complex and very expensive. The announcement leaves VW trailing behind Mercedes-Benz in the race to lower CO2 emissions by adopting advanced transmission technology.

Hero Duet and Maestro Edge launching Tommorow.

Hero MotoCorp will launch the Duet and Maestro Edge scooters in India on the 29th of this month. The two new scooters have reached some dealerships and bookings might also start soon.

Both the scooters have been spied testing several times earlier revealing many details. The Maestro Edge is based on the standard Maestro, but gets a new digital-analog instrument cluster, restyled headlamps and tail lights, a 3D emblem and five-spoke alloy wheels. Similar is the case with the Duet that features all this equipment, however, with a new metal body and design.

Powering both the scooters is a new 110cc air-cooled mill producing 8bhp of power and 8.5Nm of torque. While the Maestro Edge mainly targets male buyers, the Duet is a unisex scooter. Both the scooters will feature a telescopic suspension in the front and also get the combined braking system.

Indian consumers consider the festive season to be auspicious to buy new vehicles. So Hero is doing the perfect thing by bringing in the scooters at the right time when buyers are looking for new two-wheelers.
